The curriculum innovation process carried out in various countries, including Indonesia, reflects efforts to accommodate new needs in the world of education. This article examines changes and innovations in the educational curriculum with a focus on key findings obtained from research in Indonesia and Indonesia and other countries such as; Malaysia, Finland, Singapore, Canada, Australia, China, and the United States through the library research method, this study analyzed various previous studies, including journals, books, and related articles. The purpose of this study is to examine changes and innovations in the educational curriculum with a focus on the factors driving these changes and the challenges faced in their implementation. The results of the study show that curriculum changes and innovations are triggered by several key factors: 1) technological advances that affect learning methods, 2) job market demands and economic changes that demand new skills, and 3) socio-cultural changes that encourage the adjustment of teaching materials. Although various countries have innovated curricula according to local needs, significant challenges remain, namely: 1) teachers' readiness to implement the new curriculum, 2) the availability of resources that support the learning process, 3) resistance to existing changes, and 4) the lack of a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of previous curricula. These findings highlight the importance of collaborative strategies to address these challenges to support the success of curriculum innovation.
Indra Wahyuni Firli Fangestu Siti Marpuah Bahrissalim Fauzan Copyright (c) 2025 Indra Wahyuni Firli Fangestu, Siti Marpuah, Bahrissalim, Fauzan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-05-08 2025-05-08 6 1 1 20 10.21154/sajiem.v6i1.357 Penerapan Manajemen Mutu Terpadu di Lembaga Pendidikan Swasta Islam: Resiliensi Terhadap Keterbatasan Anggaran https://sajiem.iainponorogo.ac.id/sajiem/article/view/395
This research is motivated by the demands of improving the quality of education in private educational institutions often faced with budget constraints. This study aims to analyze the impact of budget constraints on implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) and to identify effective and efficient TQM implementation strategies in these conditions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type at SMP Queen Ibnu Sina, Banyuwangi. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal, teachers, and administrative staff, observation and documentation studies. The study's results indicate that budget constraints significantly impact initial TQM investments, such as staff training and system development, as well as on ongoing TQM maintenance, which led to the selection of more affordable internal evaluations. Nevertheless, the institution demonstrated resilience by implementing several adaptive strategies. Prioritizing areas for improvement is the primary strategy. Creative use of internal resources has also proven effective. External collaboration with MGMP, professional organizations, and the government opens up access to resources and expertise that are difficult to reach independently. Strong leadership, staff commitment, effective communication, budget transparency, ongoing evaluation, and a culture of continuous improvement are also necessary. The study concluded that TQM implementation can still be effective in private institutions with limited budgets through adaptive strategies such as prioritization, utilization of internal resources, and external collaboration, supported by strong leadership and an organizational culture that supports improvement.
Muhammad Nur Ahsan Siti Aimah Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Nur Ahsan, Siti Aimah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-05-21 2025-05-21 6 1 21 36 10.21154/sajiem.v6i1.395 Evaluasi Kinerja Tenaga Pendidik dan Kependidikan dalam Upaya Meningkatkan Mutu Pendidikan di MAN 1 Ponorogo https://sajiem.iainponorogo.ac.id/sajiem/article/view/325
This research is motivated by an academic problem in the form of a weak performance evaluation system in educational institutions. The study adopted a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. However, due to time and funding constraints, the research was limited to the Develop stage. Validation results from two experts in entrepreneurship and curriculum development indicated a very high level of feasibility, with an average score of 94.1% across aspects of content, structure, readability, and the application of PjBL principles. The module is considered valid, practical, and ready for classroom use. Its strengths lie in integrating entrepreneurial theory and practice, emphasizing active and collaborative learning, and embedding Islamic values in project activities. This study is expected to contribute significantly to the development of innovative entrepreneurship pedagogy in Islamic higher education, while also strengthening students’ competencies in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, innovation, and decision-making. Further research is recommended to examine the module’s effectiveness across broader classroom contexts and diverse learning settings.
Dian Pratiwi Copyright (c) 2025 Dian Pratiwi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-09-04 2025-09-04 6 1 53 74 10.21154/sajiem.v6i1.479 Kepemimpinan Kiai dalam Peningkatan Kualitas Pendidikan di Pondok Pesantren Hudaya Diwek Jombang https://sajiem.iainponorogo.ac.id/sajiem/article/view/510
The kiai (Islamic boarding school) is the primary leader of an Islamic boarding school, possessing full authority over the management and development of the institution. The kiai's leadership is a central factor in improving the quality of education, from curriculum management, teaching staff performance, student development, and strengthening the learning system. This study aims to analyze the kiai's leadership model in improving the quality of education at the Hudaya Diwek Islamic Boarding School in Jombang and assess its impact on learning quality. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including participant observation, in-depth interviews, and institutional documentation. Data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Their validity was tested using source and method triangulation. The results indicate that KH. Agus Achmad Syaikhu's leadership combines charismatic, transformational, and participatory styles effectively to drive improvements in educational quality. Improvements are evident in quantitative indicators, such as a 41.6% increase in student participation in the Musyawarah Kubro (Cultural Consultative Meeting), a 66.6% increase in memorization of the Imrithy (The Book of Imrithy), and a 150% increase in memorization of Al-Fiyyah Ibn Malik. Qualitatively, significant changes have occurred in the students' character, marked by increased activeness, self-confidence, and involvement in Islamic boarding school scientific activities. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative analysis based on quantitative and qualitative indicators, a practice rarely employed in similar studies. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of Islamic education management based on kiai leadership and serves as a reference for other Islamic boarding schools in improving the quality of their education.
Mahfudz Burhanudin Moh.
